ABOUT PTFE
PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is a non-stick fluoropolymer coating that has the highest operating temperature of any fluoropolymer and has extremely low coefficient of friction, fair abrasion resistance and good chemical resistance. This coating is normally used where a dry lubricant or low friction, or corrosion resistant coating is necessary.
The PTFE coating process has outstanding release capabilities and can withstand a maximum use temperature of 600°F, higher than any fluoropolymer. This coating is typically applied to a thickness of 1-5 mils.
Benefits of PTFE Coated Fasteners
Corrosion resistance
Chemical resistance
Easy assembly & removal
Low coefficient of friction
High heat resistance
PTFE industrial coatings can be applied to steel, alloy, brass aluminum and some special materials like Inconel. For perfect adhesion, the substrate required abrading to secure a good bond between the PTFE and the material.
